Privacy
Last updated 19 October 2026
The Cupping Desk (thecuppingdesk.com) has no visitor accounts, no sign-up forms and no shopping cart, and it sets no cookies for visitors. (Our content editor, used only by the site's own staff, sets sign-in cookies for them.) Here is everything that does involve your data.
Visit statistics
We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies and gives us totals, such as how many people opened the journal, rather than a profile of you.
Hosting
The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, to run and protect the service, and keeps them only briefly.
The barista
What you type to the barista is sent to two services to produce a reply: Google Cloud's Vertex AI, which writes the answer, and TypeSafe, which screens each message and reply for safety. They process it under their own terms. We don't keep your conversation: it lives in your browser tab and is gone when you close it. Please don't type personal details such as your phone number or address.
Links to roasters
When you follow a "Buy from" link, you leave this site for the roaster's shop. The link carries tags (utm_source=thecuppingdesk) that tell the roaster the visit came from us, and your browser tells it which of our pages you came from. It carries nothing about you. The roaster's own privacy policy applies on their site.
Your requests
For any question about your data, or to make a request under India's data protection law, write to admin@thecuppingdesk.com. If this notice changes, the date above will change with it. See also the terms.
